Happy hump day!! I have another fun story today. I found this list of blog post prompts and they're mostly going to be about funny stories (which fits my life perfectly).

Here in a bit I'm going to post some more deep life lessons, what God's been teaching me this week, & more! stay tuned!

Okay, here we go. This is embarassing... but anything for content, right? 😅

My homeschool co-op goes ice skating every year for a fun social type thing. As always, I get super pumped to go ice skating with my sister and friends. A few years ago, we get there and as most non-experienced ice skaters, I slowly skirt across the rink, falling literally every two seconds. About 30 minutes in, I am flying across the ice at a whoppin' 2 LPH (laps per hour). Pretty decent for a 12 year old, wouldn't you say?! I fell one time after another, and at one point got so jumbled up that the razor part of my skate hit the middle of my arm. How that happens, I have no clue...But I had the padding of the layers of shirts and big jacket, I'll be fine!

I continue to have the time of my life until a group of big, teenage boys fly around me and I fall over (I'm sure I made it look dramatic). I broke my fall with, of course, my hand. I was sitting there on all fours, arm in pain, freezing my fingers off. I got up and slowly skated to the exit, cradling my injured arm. I just knew it was broken. (No, I was not crying...) I went to my mom and told her what had happened. She pulled up my jacket sleeve and layers of shirts to find a bruise smack-dab in the middle of my arm. It must be broken! Why else would there be a bruise in the middle of the arm I just broke a fall with!? We decided to go home because how am I suppoesd to skate with a broken arm? After seeing that the bruise was not going down, we decided to make a trip to the emergency room. After x-rays and the doctor examining my poor arm, (we wont talk about the many texts I sent to my friends informing them of my tradgedy."Miss Norman?" The nurse walked in. She proceeded to ask me if there was any point where I had hit my arm prior to the fall. I thought for a moment, then remembered when I fell early in my skating and the skate hit my arm. I will never forget the look on my mom's face when I shared that forgotten story with the nurse. "You've got a contusion..." Now that I'm *way* older, I'm sure she was laughing deep down (I sure would have been!). I had never heard that word and I was still convinced I was dying. They gave me an ice pack and then turned to my parents, eager for them to fill out the payment paperwork. I texted my friends, "oh my goodness guys! I HAVE A CONTUSION!" Still had no clue what that meant. When we made it to the car, I asked my mom "What's a contusion?" Mom answered, her voice toneless and maybe a bit peeved, "A bruise. You have. A bruise."

At the time, it was not funny. But now, this story is one of our funniest memories 😂There are times when I get a bruise and I'll run in the room dramatically, "MOM! I HAVE A BRUISE I NEED TO GO TO THE ER."

I really hope you found this funny and don't just think I'm weird...😂🙈

Have a wonderful rest of your week :)) Much love,

Summer Gabrielle
